Changing titles of images to have the location followed by what the image actually is about[edit]
I've noticed a ton of submissions from you requesting files be renamed to have the location (all of them seem to be in Canada) preceding the actual contents of the image. If you want to add the location, simply add it to the appropriate category unless the image name needs disambiguation for some reason. There is no valid reason for every image from a location to have that location in the title of the image (again, unless it needs disambiguation for some reason). Please help me understand why you're doing this. Was there a discussion somewhere that determined this needed to be done? Thanks! ···日本穣 Talk to Nihonjoe 23:13, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there! I understand how insane I look. I am working as an intern for the Archives of Ontario, who are the original uploaders of all of these files. They have asked me to rename these files, so as to sort them by location, so they appear in that order on the site. I hope that makes sense.
- We aren't sure if there is an easier way to sort the folder /without/ having to alter the file titles, we have been looking into it but if you know how please let me know.
- Forgive me, I am new to Wikipedia editing, and a few people in the office are also learning as they go with the uploading project. Jugermai (talk) 23:28, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- I think for what you want to achieve it would make more sense to create a gallery (or even a set of galleries) of only the Archives of Ontario's uploads, which gives you a lot more freedom in terms of which order and what presentation you want to give these images. Let me know if that sounds like a good idea. ReneeWrites (talk) 07:53, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
